How the estimate works.
Simple on purpose. A number you can defend in a leadership meeting beats an impressive one you can't.
- Hours at stake
- People doing the work, times the hours each of them spends on it every week.
- Share AI can give back
- 30% of those hours, within a range of 20 to 40%. Highly repetitive work can go further, judgment-heavy work less.
- Working year
- 46 weeks: 52 minus vacation and public holidays.
- Cost of an hour
- Your hourly cost, or salary plus 30% for payroll taxes, pension and benefits, spread over 1,840 working hours.
- What it leaves out
- Revenue. Some of the biggest wins aren't hours at all: Bohus Betong grew revenue by $500K a year, and Sweplan / Ljungheden captured $200K a year in change orders that used to fall through the cracks.
